Questions and answers
Everything a vendor usually asks before trying AppMarketWatch. Anything missing: contact@appmarketwatch.com.
What is AppMarketWatch?
AppMarketWatch is a competitive-intelligence service for companies that sell apps or plugins on software marketplaces. Once a day it reads the public listings of the Atlassian Marketplace (Cloud apps for Jira and Confluence), the Shopify App Store, the WordPress.org plugin directory (plugins with 1,000+ active installs) and the JetBrains Marketplace (the 10,000 most downloaded plugins), compares them with the day before, and e-mails each subscriber only what changed on the apps and categories they watch.
Which marketplaces does it cover?
Today: the Atlassian Marketplace (Cloud apps for Jira and Confluence), the Shopify App Store, the WordPress.org plugin directory (plugins with 1,000+ active installs) and the JetBrains Marketplace (the 10,000 most downloaded plugins). HubSpot, monday.com and Salesforce AppExchange are on the roadmap, without a date.
How can I track competitor apps on the Atlassian Marketplace?
Add your own Jira or Confluence apps and your competitors' apps to your watchlist. Every morning you receive the changes of the last 24 hours: active installs, rating, number of reviews, latest version date, price tiers, new apps entering your category, and negative reviews on your own listings. Each line links to the listing and to a 120-day history.
Can it alert me when a Shopify app changes its price or receives a bad review?
Yes. For Shopify apps the digest reports price changes (starting price of the plans), rating moves, review-count jumps, new apps in the category and negative reviews on your own app. Shopify does not publish install counts, so demand is read from the number of reviews.
How do I monitor new plugins entering my WordPress.org category?
Watch one or more WordPress.org plugin categories (tags). The digest lists new plugins that appear in them, with their active installs and rating, and follows installs, rating, review count and last-update date for the plugins you watch.
Does it cover JetBrains Marketplace plugins?
Yes: the 10,000 most downloaded plugins of the JetBrains Marketplace, with downloads, rating, number of reviews, pricing model and last update.
Where does the data come from?
From the public listing pages and public APIs of each marketplace, read once a day at a slow pace. The figures are exactly those a buyer sees on the listing; nothing comes from vendor consoles or private areas.
How is this different from the marketplace's own vendor analytics?
A vendor console shows your own apps. AppMarketWatch shows the market around them: competitors, categories and new entrants, with the day-to-day history needed to tell a trend from noise.
What does it cost?
Free: 2 apps, 1 category, Atlassian only, weekly digest. Starter: €49 per month for 10 apps, 3 categories, all marketplaces, daily digest. Pro: €99 per month for 50 apps, 20 categories, negative-review alerts and CSV export. Prices are without VAT (French VAT exemption scheme); card payment through Stripe, invoice sent automatically, cancel any time.
Is there a free trial?
The Free plan has no time limit. Vendors we contact by e-mail are offered 30 days of the Starter plan, without a card; at the end the account goes back to Free unless they subscribe.
How do I sign in?
With a link sent to your e-mail address, no password. The same address is used for the digest and for billing.
Can I have my app or my data removed?
Yes. Write to contact@appmarketwatch.com: subscriber accounts and their data are deleted on request, and a vendor who does not want a listing shown on this service can ask for its removal.
Who runs AppMarketWatch?
An independent service operated from Lyon, France, not affiliated with Atlassian, Shopify, Automattic or JetBrains. Contact: contact@appmarketwatch.com.
